I Do It Well!

It amazes me how strong I am. As a new mother, who is working on completing my dissertation, in an administrative role at work, working part-time as an adjunct, and as head of my household, I impress myself daily. I think to myself, "girl, how are you doing all of this and not losing your mind," well, the answer is, I'm doing this to give my daughter a better childhood than I had. I try to reframe from negative self-talk. It's easy and natural to engage in some form of self-doubt. However, mothers are more robust than one would think.

I watched my mom raise four of us, and she achieved everything she wanted to while being a single mom. If she did it, why can't I and I only have ONE child. A significant factor in my success, in my achievements in both my career and education, is that my mother showed me it could be done. Every day is stressful; honestly, I do not have enough time in the day to accomplish the task I want and need to. But, with goals as big as mine, I don't fret about having to work harder some days due to not accomplishing many tasks the days before.

I'm learning to give myself grace. My favorite bible scripture is, "God is within her, she will not fail (fall)" psalms 46:5. I'm not failing, I will not fall, and even if I do, God has me. My faith has become stronger, and I'm proud of who I am even in the most of stress and hardship. My advice to new moms or moms that need motivation is never to lose sight of you, your plans, your goal, your aspirations, and your why. Rather it is your child(ren), the dynamics of your childhood, or your desires; always keep going.

Until next time!
